Early life & education

Esther has been in education with Shelo since 2011 when she was 13 years of age. Since she started at Mabono Primary School she’s always been a hard working student, progressing every year to finish primary school in 2015.

She then attended Bulucheke Secondary School studying subjects such as History, Geography, Mathematics, Agriculture and sciences, her highest grades being in Mathematics and Commerce (business), which has ultimately helped shape her chosen subject in professional education at BLC.

Esther is the fifth child in a household of nine people, including both her parents. The family members earn a living by growing crops like bananas, beans and onions.

Esther’s professional education with Path To Prosper

In 2021, Esther was one of the first students to enroll in the new Path To Prosper programme. She’s chosen to take a hairdressing course, which she enjoys so much!

After our local administrator's background visit to Esther's home, we arranged for her to live in the BLC campus hostel so she could cut out the long daily commute she was making by foot and instead concentrate on her studies.

“Thanks so much for supporting Esther in her course; she has a bright future in her life”
